I want to write to let everyone know that right now the site is in it's infant stage and we do not plan to launch the site officially till the New Year. If anyone is looking for more just hang in there and you will see the site blossom over the next few weeks. I just wanted to let everyone know what the plan was for it all.

Adding Contributors

Ok so we under way still and I have made a decision to change the blog roll to a contributor roll and I will allow people that show quality writing skills and the want to contribute their own blog dealing with different areas of military life. I want to seperate aspects instead of people just blogging to blog. So if you have a perspective of maybe spouse issues, or field life, or something in particular please let us know and we will see about getting you on board as a contributor.

Ok so I have added the events and video sections so everyone can start adding events others might be able to attend or become aware of. The video section is just for people to put some videos on the site.

In your User Menu you will see the Submit Event link. You can add it in the appropriate category to make it easier for people to sort through. If you have somethign going on at your installation like a festival then post it.  We want to get as much information for people on here as possible so ultimately your contributions matter a great deal.

The videos i know are blocked on government computers so when you're at home you can use that section. it's easy enough to link from Youtube or any other video hosting site to put everythign in there. The only thing you have to do is put the link and the site does the rest. If you have a video that is not up on one of the video sharing sites you can upload it on the server here locally. I have a 100 MB limit. Please no copyrighted stuff. We shouldn't have that anyways in the military niche but just to cover the bases.

Hopefully everything is falling into place as the days go on. I really want this place to be special for everyone.

Seems like the Commons is finally coming together even in the earlier stages. The video addition is great though it can't be accessed from a government computer. Hope everyone is getting ready to start setting up your profiles and get connected. I am trying to get everything setup in mine and get the layouts just right. Come on in and join me!

Ok I just wanted to make sure everyone knows my site intentions. I am only one person right now building this site and that includes doing the graphics and content and everything. So this is going to take time. As many of you can see at this point the site is really starting to come along. I did some of the rank images tonight like this

but this really takes time getting it right. I have about a 3 month projection till a lot of the reference content is completed. However in the mean time we have the forum setup and everyone can open a blog. We should have a community built in the next couple of weeks that will really enhance the site.

So I hope many will be patient as the site matures into something very special. I am setting aside a few hours each day and more if I can to get things together here.  I know a lot of it is just pretty images right now but I will be adding lots of great content to back it all up shortly. I have to admit though it's a lot of fun watching this come together and I hope many will find it a great place to visit.

This is the introduction of the Military Commons blogging system. Each person that is registered has their own blog. You may write about what you want, track your traffic and popularity, and make a presence here on the site. You have access to tons of features for your blogging like videos, images, and even documents to make your posts look exciting and enticing to read. I hope all the members enjoy this features and use it as much as possible.
